The Business Process Redesign projects I was involved in were mainly triggered by company take overs. To gain efficiency the optimal processes need to implemented on a European or Global scale. Sometimes the trigger was an implementation of a new ERP system. In other cases some processes within an organisation were out of control and need to be redesigned to reduce risks (f.e. contract management, margin control).
